1. Introduction
Hindo ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Hindo mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our App.
2. Information We Collect
Information you provide directly:
- Email address and password (account registration)
- Username and account type (artist or listener)
- Profile information: genre, city, bio tags, social media links (Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, Instagram, SoundCloud)
- Profile avatar (photo)
- Audio and video content uploaded to your profile slots
- Audio tracks submitted to Hindo Radio
- Messages sent in chat rooms
- Comments posted on artist profiles
Information collected automatically:
- Push notification token (to deliver in-app notifications)
- Usage data: which artists you save, Signal Points staking activity
- Device information required by Expo/React Native for standard app operation
Third-party platform data (artists only, when connected):
- Spotify: follower count snapshots (via Spotify API)
- YouTube: subscriber and view count snapshots (via YouTube Data API)
These are used solely for the Signal Points stake evaluation system.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To operate and provide the App's core features (feed, radio, chat, profile)
- To process Signal Points staking and weekly evaluations
- To send push notifications (saves, comments, social link clicks)
- To verify account eligibility for Pro tier features
- To display your profile and uploaded content to other users
- To improve App performance and resolve technical issues
4. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only in these circumstances:
- Supabase — our backend provider; stores all user data, uploaded media, and real-time messages. supabase.com/privacy
- Expo (Push Notifications) — your push token is sent to Expo's push service to deliver notifications. expo.dev/privacy
- Spotify / YouTube APIs — we read public metric data for artists; we do not share your data with these platforms.
- Legal compliance — if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of users.
5. User-Generated Content
Content you upload (audio, video, avatar images) is stored in Supabase Storage and is publicly readable. Other users of the App can view your profile, listen to your slots, and see your username, genre, city, and tags. Do not upload content you do not have rights to or that contains sensitive personal information.
6. Data Retention
- Your account data and uploaded content are retained as long as your account is active.
- Deleting your account removes your profile and all associated data (slots, saves, stakes, comments, messages) via cascading database deletion.
- Uploaded media files in Supabase Storage may take up to 30 days to be permanently removed.
7. Children's Privacy
Hindo is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your account and data (available directly in-app via Settings → Delete Account)
- Object to or restrict certain processing

9. Security
We use Supabase's built-in row-level security (RLS) and authenticated storage policies to restrict data access. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance.
